Ann C. Pizzorusso is a geologist and scholar of the Italian Renaissance. She has used her geologic skills to analyze the landscapes and geological formations in paintings to determine authenticity as well as style changes and collaborative efforts. Her technique has now become a diagnostic tool which art historians can use to determine the provenance of a work of art. She has been called upon internationally to analyze works of Renaissance painters. She divides her time between New York and Italy.  She can be reached at
